Couples and Group Therapy

For many couples, life together can become difficult at times. Mid life issues, dealing with children's problems, unemployment, menopause, sexual issues and libido changes, infidelity, life changes and health problems can all have a destructive effect on relationships. Couples and relationship therapies can provide a confidential space where partners can come to talk about their problems without fear of judgement or embarrassment. Often one partner will worry that the therapist will take sides with the other partner and may be reluctant to come to therapy. Harley Street counsellors are not there to judge, but to try and enable each to express their feelings, and to understand the other's point of view, so that a dialogue can be opened up between you in areas where you feel stuck or there has been a block in being able to speak about it. It is not a miracle cure, and while many couples are able to re-engage in a meaningful and healthy relationship, some may part as a result of realising that they can't live together happily. Knowing that you have tried to address your problems can be reassuring whatever the outcome.
