  Donna Savery

Donna Savery is the current Director at Harley Street Counselling. She works as a psychotherapist, counsellor and group facilitator privately, and as a volunteer and group therapist for a mental health charity. She began work in the field of mental health in 1994, using drama and role play to work with schizophrenia and psychosis. She continued her training in psychodynamic counselling in 1995 while working as a theatre director and academic, teaching Drama and Creative Writing. She went on to study for a postgraduate diploma in Existential and Person Centred therapy, and draws upon her creative background as part of her therapeutic approach.

Donna's work focuses on the client’s world view and personal experiences, to provide empathy, understanding and acceptance, from a non-judgemental stance with appropriate challenges and interventions once trust has been established. Informed by a body of theory, her work centres on trying to understand the client's particular way of being-in-the-world to empower them to make the changes they require through therapy.

Donna has written papers for conferences on ‘trauma’ and her research into ‘Harnessing Creativity in therapy’ is shortly to be published in a Palgrave publication on 'Existential Relationship Therapy'. She carries out most of the assessments a HSC, personally and will do whatever is necessary to ensure the needs of each client are met.
